FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is mezcal?
Mezcal is a traditional Mexican spirit distilled from the heart (piña) of the agave plant. Unlike industrial spirits, artisanal mezcal is made by hand in small batches using methods passed down for generations — roasting agave in earth or stone ovens, which gives it its signature smoky character.
What makes Catedral De Mi Padre different?
Every bottle is small-batch and artisanal, produced by maestros mezcaleros in Oaxaca using wild and cultivated agave, stone-oven roasting, and natural fermentation. Each expression reflects a specific agave variety, region, and maker.
What's the difference between your expressions?
Our Espadín is our approachable, everyday expression. Ensambles blend two agaves for added complexity. Tobalá, Mexicano, and Madre Cuishe are made from wild agaves that grow for 8–14+ years, each with a distinct flavor profile. Tasting notes are listed on each product page.
What is the ABV?
Our expressions range from roughly 43% to 48% ABV. The exact proof is listed on each product page.
How should I drink it?
Sip it neat at room temperature in a small copita. Take small sips and let it open up — mezcal is meant to be savored slowly, never shot.
